Basic Home Repair Workshop

In this 6 hour workshop, our instructors teach a variety of basic home repair skills through guided demonstration and hands-on activities. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will better understand the inner workings of their homes, be capable of making many of their own repairs and have a greater level of confidence for those times when they have to hire outside help.

Our basic home repair workshop will teach you:

  • How to find and clear plumbing clogs
  • How to hang towel bars, curtains, shelving
  • Wall repair, large and small
  • Simple electrical repairs



Basic Home Repair Workshop for Women

K2Workshops offers this "Tools-in-Hand" workshop for women, taught by experienced women, to provide a safe, friendly and fun environment to learn basic home repair skills.

Beginning Electrical

If you’re ready to update your light fixtures, switches or outlets, and want to learn how in a safe and fun environment, the Beginning Electrical Workshop is designed for you. Electrical work can be intimidating for the beginner, but once you know the basic principles behind simple electrical upgrades, you’ll find that it’s easy and you can do it.

We’ll teach you how and by the end of this 3 hour workshop, you will have:

  • Changed a light switch
  • Installed a dimmer switch
  • Replaced a light fixture with a new one
  • Changed an outlet

Understanding Your Toilet

Toilet stools are a great source of homeowner angst when things aren’t working properly. The design of a toilet stool is very simple and there are really only a few things that might need repair. So, why is it that the clogged, running or leaking stools are so common?

We’ll teach you how to evaluate toilet problems and make common repairs so that the next time something goes wrong, you won’t have to call a plumber. You’ll be prepared to take action!

In this hands-on, 3 hour workshop, we’ll show you how and by the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate your toilet problems
  • Replace tank parts
  • Clear just about any clog
  • Reseat or install a toilet stool

Plumbing Clogs and Leaks

Having to call in a plumber to clear a clogged drain is not only expensive and inconvenient, many times it is unnecessary. With a little elbow grease, most plumbing clogs are easily cleared by the average home owner.

In this 3 hour workshop, we’ll teach you how to evaluate your plumbing problems so you'll know which ones to tackle yourself and which ones to call in a professional.

Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Find and clear most drain clogs
  • Trace a water leak to the source and make minor water line repairs
  • Prevent many plumbing problems by taking steps today

Preparing Your House For Sale

If you’re thinking of selling your house, or if your house is in need of a facelift, this workshop will help you learn how to make simple and affordable cosmetic changes that will increase the value of your house while giving it a fresh, new look.

Realtor Ann Taylor opens the workshop by sharing tips on how to make your house stand out over similar houses on the market.  With nearly 20 years of experience in KC real estate, Ann is an invaluable resource and she’ll tell you where to focus your efforts, where to spend your money and where to save it.

The remainder of the workshop complements Ann’s expert advice by means of guided demonstrations, showing participants how to make many of the changes that could mean the difference when selling their home.

In this 3 hour workshop, we will cover:

  • Changing light fixtures
  • Installing new bathroom fixtures
  • Updating cabinet and door hardware
  • Repairing, patching and repainting walls
  • Renewing aged woodwork

This workshop is limited to 16 students.
